A Cricket's Tale
Criminal Activities
Bestiality
Engaging in sexual acts with an animal. Many U.S. states criminalize bestiality or sexual contact with animals; such conduct can be prosecuted as an animal‑abuse/sex offense.
Situation:
"Cricket is shown making out with the family dog."
Drug Dealing
Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and the actual sale/distribution of controlled substances (state and federal controlled‑substances laws).
Situation:
"The Gang repeatedly offers PCP as payment to Cricket (e.g., "Paychecks come at the end of the month... You want to get paid in PCP?" and "we'll pay you in PCP"). They attempt to trade drugs for services and offer drugs as payment."
Non‑consensual tracking
Installing or using a tracking device on a person without their consent—a form of unlawful surveillance and a non‑consensual physical intrusion (could be prosecuted as battery, stalking, or under state statutes banning tracking devices).
Situation:
"Members of The Gang admit on screen that they placed a "pet‑tracking device" in/onto Cricket (Matthew Mara) without his knowledge or consent: "We did put that pet‑tracking device in him.""
Solicitation of sexual services
Engaging in the sale of sexual services or soliciting payment for sexual acts, which is a criminal offense in most U.S. jurisdictions (prostitution/solicitation laws).
Situation:
"Cricket openly advertises sexual services in the bar — e.g., "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm the suck boy you're looking for. You want my time, you got to pay to spray.""
Solicitation of violent homicide
Soliciting, encouraging, or inciting another person to commit murder or violent harm can itself be a crime (solicitation of murder or conspiracy to commit murder depending on the jurisdiction and facts).
Situation:
"A member of The Gang urges violence against a target, saying things like "just finish the guy off, and then come do the job for us" and "finish the guy off," which is an encouragement/solicitation of lethal violence."
Theft
Unauthorized taking and consumption of another person's personal property (petty theft/larceny): intentionally taking possession of property belonging to someone else without that person's consent.
Situation:
"The episode opens with a chase and the line "Stop! Thief! Come back here!" followed by "I may be a street rat, but I still got your bread, b*tch," indicating Cricket has taken another person's property (bread)."
