Mac is a Serial killer
Criminal Activities
Assault
Threatening another with imminent physical harm or displaying a weapon in a manner that puts others in reasonable fear of harm; in many jurisdictions brandishing a firearm or threatening violence is a criminal offense.
Situation:
"Frank brings a chainsaw and the group threatens to 'torture' Mac, talk about chopping and dismembering victims, and otherwise use the chainsaw to intimidate and coerce a confession."
Conspiracy to Commit Murder
Agreement and planning among multiple people to hunt and kill a human being — criminal conspiracy to commit homicide.
Situation:
"The gang repeatedly discusses selecting, following, jumping and strangling a target and chopping the body into pieces; they plan and rehearse murder/dismemberment scenarios to 'get into the killer's mind.'"
False Accusation
Making or promoting knowingly false allegations that a specific individual is a violent criminal, causing harm to that person's reputation and liberty.
Situation:
"The gang constructs an elaborate sting and publicly accuses Mac of being a serial killer (including staging evidence and coercing confessions) despite lacking proper evidence; their actions nearly lead to Mac being detained and assaulted."
False Imprisonment
False imprisonment is the unlawful restraint of a person's freedom of movement without their consent or legal authority to do so. It includes confinement in a locked room or other space when the confined person cannot leave.
Situation:
"After luring Mac to the apartment, the group ties him up and restrains him while interrogating him about being a serial killer."
Harassment
Course of conduct (repeated following/harassment) directed at a person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear, alarm, or harassment; often criminalized as stalking or harassment and frequently enforced by restraining orders.
Situation:
"Dennis and Dee interview Mac's mother at her home, telling her they are recording and aggressively questioning her about whether her son is a killer, attempting to force a statement that implicates Mac."
Harassment of Potential Victim
Following, surveilling or harassing a person in a manner that would cause them fear or distress (conduct intended to locate and target a victim).
Situation:
"Dennis and Dee follow a woman (intended as 'bait') with the stated plan to jump and scare or worse; they surveil and stalk her to learn how a killer might choose a victim."
Impersonation
Deliberately creating and using a false identity to deceive another person via messages/communication (in the U.S., impersonation, identity fraud, or related statutes can apply depending on method and injury). The transcript records Dennis admitting he was the fabricated persona "Johnny" and that he sent texts from his phone to deceive someone.
Situation:
"Dee (with Dennis/others' help) impersonates a woman named 'Sandy' over the phone to get Mac to come to the apartment so the group can confront/detain him."
Possession of a Deadly Weapon for Criminal Purpose
Possession and ready use of a dangerous instrument (a chainsaw and dismemberment tools) with the intent or plan to use it to commit violent crimes.
Situation:
"Frank brings a chainsaw and the group collects shears/other tools specifically to be used in dismemberment/torture scenarios while confronting suspects."
Theft
Unauthorized taking and consumption of another person's personal property (petty theft/larceny): intentionally taking possession of property belonging to someone else without that person's consent.
Situation:
"Dee explains her neighbor Gary works at the hardware store and they take gardening shears (and discuss taking other tools) 'for free' to use as supposed 'killing tools.'"
Trespass
Unlawful entry into a building (school) with the intent to commit an offense inside (unauthorized entry / burglary or trespass depending on jurisdiction).
Situation:
"Frank and the others ransack Mac's living area (looking through books, drawers, commenting on the 'prison cell' decor and the highlighted anatomy text) and generally search personal spaces without legal authority."
