Criminal Activities
Breaking and Entering
Unlawfully entering another person's dwelling or property without permission. Depending on jurisdiction and facts (e.g., if done with intent to commit a felony), this can be burglary; otherwise it is criminal trespass or unlawful entry.
Situation:
"Dennis says he "picked the lock" and snuck into Greg's room/apartment while Greg was in the shower in order to stage a "meet-cute.""
Invasion of privacy
Observing, recording, or otherwise intruding on another person in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g., shower, bathroom) without consent; often prosecuted as voyeurism or related privacy offenses.
Situation:
"After sneaking in, Dennis admits he "checked him out for a quick second" while Greg was showering, i.e., observing a person in a private, intimate setting without consent."
Vandalism
Intentionally damaging, destroying, or defacing another's property; charged as criminal mischief, vandalism, or similar offenses under U.S. law.
Situation:
"Dennis admits he defecated into Greg's toilet and jammed it with toilet paper so it would not flush, intentionally fouling the plumbing to force Greg to leave the apartment to get a plunger."
